1. About this tool
UK VAT Calculator ("the site") is a free, independent online calculator that converts amounts between net and gross at UK Value Added Tax (VAT) rates. By using the site you accept these terms.
2. Estimates only — not tax advice
All results are estimates provided for general guidance only. They do not constitute tax, accounting, legal or financial advice. VAT rules contain exceptions and special schemes that a simple calculator cannot capture. You are responsible for verifying any figure before relying on it — for example in an invoice, a price, a contract or a VAT return — and you should confirm important figures with your accountant or with HMRC.
3. No affiliation
The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to HMRC, HM Government, or GOV.UK. References to HMRC and GOV.UK are purely descriptive, pointing you to the official source of VAT rules.
4. Accuracy and availability
We aim to keep rates, thresholds and explanations accurate and the site available at all times, but we do not guarantee either. Tax rates and thresholds can change (for example at a Budget); where there is any difference between this site and GOV.UK, GOV.UK is correct. The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on a result, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5. Acceptable use
- Use the calculator for lawful personal and business purposes.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others, or misrepresent the site or its results as official HMRC output.
6. Intellectual property
The site's design, text and code belong to the site operator. You may use and share results of your own calculations freely. The worked examples and guides may be quoted with a link back to the relevant page.
7. Changes
We may update these terms or the site at any time; the current version will always be on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
