The short version
UK VAT Calculator is designed to need as little from you as possible. The calculator runs entirely in your web browser: the amounts and rates you enter are never transmitted to us, stored, or shared with anyone. There are no user accounts and no sign-up.
What we collect
- Calculator inputs: nothing. All calculations happen locally on your device.
- Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically records basic technical information when your browser requests a page — for example your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. This is used to operate, secure and understand overall usage of the site.
- Messages you send us: if you contact us (for example through the WhatsApp link on the contact page), we will receive the information you choose to share in that conversation, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to it.
Cookies and advertising
The calculator itself does not set cookies. In future we may use privacy-respecting analytics or advertising services to support the site; if we do, this policy will be updated first to name the service and explain what it collects, and any cookies that require consent will only be set with your consent where the law requires it.
Sharing your information
We do not sell personal data. Technical log data is processed by our hosting provider to deliver and protect the site. We would only disclose information if required to do so by law.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, or ask for it to be deleted. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Significant changes will be reflected in the short version at the top.
